Summer Ball Control Skills (BCS) Hall of Fame

Posted by Kama Kalalau at Jul 30, 2017 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
These are our summer program students who have enrolled in our Summer Ball Control school (BCS) training and/or our Summer League program.  Like our regular season club players, our summer program students are held to the same ball control standards, which means they too have just one opportunity each year to complete all 6 drills in order to make it into our Summer BCS Hall of Fame.  They too must also complete 40 repetitions of 6 fundamental ball control drills.  Fail one repetition, you fail that drill.  Fail any drill, and you fail the entire test.  And the next opportunity won't present itself until the following year.  Very unforgiving, but necessarily so, in order to inspire, rather than to discourage.  The side of that equation you stand will depend on whether you see the glass half full, or half empty.

Starting in the summer of 2017, here are our summer program players who have completed all 6 fundamental ball control drills, and are graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.  And if they also successfully completed the two extra credit ball control drills, they are Hall of Famers with the highest distinction, graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors.  If you are a member of this very exclusive Hall of Fame club, you have clearly put in the time and words like dedicated, committed, focused and faithful are not wasteful or excessive nothings that describe you, but they are accurate, truthful, and meaningful, as it should be.  Congratulations, well done!

Power Surge Summer Ohana Competitions

Posted by Kama Kalalau at Jul 30, 2017 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Each year we have several friendly Power Surge Ohana volleyball competitions.  For example, it is a Power Surge tradition that our teams play their parents on their team's last day of pactice.  Siblings and sometimes distant cousins get to play on the parent's team too. It is a very exciting and fun evening, definitely very entertaining.  But we also have some friendly competition during the summer and after our regular season is well over.  In fact, it's become somewhat of a tradition to host two Power Surge Ohana volleyball tournaments, one at Spanaway Lake Park on grass, and one at Sunnyside Beach on sand (the Summer Sand Soiree).  The one at Spanaway Lake Park is either a 6's or Quad tourney and it is in conjunction with our annual summer picnic.  The one at Sunnyside Beach is a family member's doubles tourney and everyone brings a sack lunch.  Congratulations to all our winners!

As part of our community outreach effort, Team Power Surge is proud to co-host two volleyball tournaments this summer as fundraisers for the Auburn Adventist Academy volleyball teams. In an effort to raise funds for young players to attend team volleyball training camps, the entry fee is $200.00 per team, which can be paid through Paypal. We would like to thank our volleyball family in advance for supporting these fundraising efforts.

The head volleyball coaches of the Auburn Adventist Academy are Kenneth & Lina Aiolutopea, 206-437-7761, email: kmaiolutopea@gmail.com. Any questions regarding team registrations may be directed to them.
