Congratulations to everyone.  You all did a wonderful job this past Sunday, 23 Jan.  I don't think I've mentioned it before, but any team who wins a championship (gold, silver, etc.) get to celebrate at their next practice with a pizza party.
Power Surge 18 finished second in the Gold Division, losing in the third game (first to 15) of the Gold championship match to Ohana 18s, 19-21.  The 18s never dropped a game all day until that nail-biting championship match.  Great effort ladies.
Power Surge 17 takes the Silver Championship!!!  Great job ladies!  Some well-deserved pizza's will be waiting for you at your next practice.
Power Surge 16 - I believe the 16s made it into the gold division at the U16 D1 Club Wahine tournament, but I haven't heard from Coach Andrea yet.
Power Surge 15-1 - Tied for third in the Silver Division.  Played in the tought U15 D1 Club Wahine tournament.  Going into this tournament with a new strategy and a new lineup, the 15-1s made it to the semi-finals of the Silver Division.   Congratulations ladies!
Power Surge 15-2 finishes second in pool, qualifying for the the gold division with a 4-2 record.  The goal for every team is to make it into the gold division after pool play.  You accomplished that ladies.  Keep up the good work.
Power Surge 14-1 is the huge surprise of the day, finishing 2nd in the U16 Silver Division!!!  After not being able to get into the U14 tournament at HCC, they were thrown into a true U16 tournament at the last minute, two days prior to the tournament.  Coach Jordyn said they played so well that the U16 teams never knew they were only a U14 team.  It looks like the 14s are starting to find their way.  Well done ladies and coaches!!!
Power Surge 14-2 participated in a mini-tournament and did a great job at Ballard HS, courtesy of Cascade Volleyball Club.

Power Surge 18s Take 2nd in Gold Division

Posted by Kama Kalalau at Jan 23, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Power Surge 18s take second in the Gold Division at the Kent Juniors U18/17 tournament on 23 Jan.  The 18s cruised through the tournament, never dropping a game in all of pool play to finish first in pool.  The same happened in the playoffs until the championship match of the Gold Division.  Power Surge 18s took the first game against Ohana 18s, but Ohana came back to win the second game.  The third game, first to 15, was a toss up and a battle all the way through with Ohana winning 19-21.  Great job ladies!

Power Surge 17s Capture Silver Championship

Posted by Kama Kalalau at Jan 23, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
We ended pool play with a 3-3 record and just a handful of points away from going into the gold bracket.  My kids played extremely well and are finally starting to gel.  As much as I would love to talk about the individual stats, I am more excited about the teamwork, heart, and unity these girls showed.  Our goal coming out of pool play was to make it into the gold bracket and we were all pretty bummed after we didn't make it, but everone changed their attitude and their goal to winning the silver.  We came out focused in our first came and dominated the MVP 18's.  In our second match we started and ended strong against Rain City, but were a little shaky in the second set.  In the finals we played a tight match but stayed ahead in both sets to beat Wahine 18 [Lokahi].  I am extremely  proud of all we have accomplished and all of the strides we made.  here are some quick individual stats.  Our leaders for this KJ tournament...
